New Context, a subsidiary of Digital Garage (JASDAQ DG4819), has acquired control of Cubox, the leading Ruby on Rails consultancy in South America.
Cubox’s founder and Chairman, Evan Henshaw-Plath, will become CTO of New Context. Before founding Cubox, Evan was the first employee, lead developer, and architect at Odeo, where he laid the groundwork for Twitter.
Evan Henshaw-Plath said. “With Cubox we’ve built a company which can build software products the right way, as a craft. At Odeo we stumbled into being a lean startup, having failed to take over podcasting, we tested our assumptions and built prototypes until we created Twitter. By joining New Context and Eric Ries, we’ll be able to combine excellent technical skills with mature lean startup methods to provide a compelling package to build the right product the right way. ”
“We’re excited to bring on all the great developers at Cubox. Of all the teams we looked at in South America, they stand out in their pursuit and attainment of software development excellence,” said Ian McFarland, President of New Context.
Cubox’s Managing Director, Diego Algorta said: “We’ve put a lot of effort in to building a top notch development team. Focus on quality and continuous improvement has let us build a team in Uruguay who are the best in the world. Joining Digital Garage’s New Context is a big opportunity but also a recognition of what we’ve achieved.”
New Context provides software development and design as an “on-demand” service to enterprises, startups and governments. It focuses on agile software development, and lean design principles.
Digital Garage, is the publicly traded technology company founded by Joichi Ito and Kaoru Hayashi.
